MASK - Rig protection
PROTECTION OF STANDING RIGGING, RUNNING RIGGING, WIRES AND CABLES, TERMINATION PARTS
Typical applications:
Protection of running rigging and spars.
Protection of standing rigging terminations, turnbuckles, under spars. Protection of wiring and all cables.
Wrapping of parts that accept extra protection.
Technical characteristics :
Self-adhesive tape combining a thin, highly stretchable film of modified PTFE (synthetic fluoropolymer - Teflon® type) with a high-temperature silicone adhesive. Sometimes referred to as "Millionaire Tape" or "Gecko Tape" by riggers and deckhands, it's a must-have in every sailor's toolkit. The PTFE films selected have the highest unit rates of tensile strength and resistance to high temperatures of all PTFE films. The combination of a very low coefficient of friction and high abrasion resistance offers an effective solution to the many problems of wear and tear. Rupture at 140% elongation for PMB, PMG050, PMG076 and PMO. Rupture at 300% elongation for the others. Thickness of silicone adhesive: 38µ, except for PMB (45µ). Teflon® is the registered trademark of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) from E.I. DuPont de Nemours and Company.
The range :
4 colours: blue (PMB), grey (PMG), light grey (PML) and orange (PMO), and 6 thicknesses of protective film: 50µ, 64µ, 76µ, 125µ, 250µ and 500µ. PMG and PML products in thicknesses of 50µ and 76µ and widths of 12 mm, 25 mm and 32 mm are the most widely used.
