Textile Rope Clutches: Antal Bases and Cousin Constrictor Inserts

The Constrictor® system, patented and manufactured by Cousin Trestec, represents a major breakthrough in deck hardware. Unlike traditional cam-based clutches, this device utilizes a Technora® sleeve that constricts around the line under tension. The higher the load, the more powerful the grip becomes.

Antal Lightweight Bases for Constrictor System

Specially developed by Antal, these bases provide optimal integration of textile inserts onto the deck or mast.

Weight Reduction: Antal's optimized design reduces the number of mounting screws, decreasing the total system weight compared to standard models.
Deck Protection: By limiting the number of drill holes on the deck or coachroof, these bases minimize structural stress and the risk of water infiltration.
Simplified Maintenance: The design allows for easy removal and replacement of the textile insert without having to completely remove the base from its mounting.
Technical Performance: Compatible with 6mm (750 kg breaking load) and 8mm (1150 kg breaking load) inserts.
Precise Lead: Passage holes are positioned to ensure a straight lead for control lines and a rational distribution of loads.

Built-in and Replacement Constrictor Textile Inserts

Textile inserts can be used as standalone units for specific configurations or as replacement parts.

CTCON306P005 (6mm): Anodized aluminum insert for 6mm lines, suitable for installation at the masthead as a sail hook or under coachroof fairings.
CTCON308P006 (8mm): Textile insert for 8mm lines, offering locking efficiency twice as high as conventional mechanical systems.
Technora® Sleeve: The high-performance braid ensures instant, non-aggressive locking, effectively doubling the lifespan of your ropes.
Release Under Load: The system allows for easy release, even under high tension, thanks to the integrated pull cord.

Complete Packs: Antal Standard Bases and Inserts

These complete sets allow for rapid installation for all onboard maneuvers such as halyards, sheets, and vang adjustments.

CTCON306P001: Set including a standard Antal single anodized aluminum base and a 6mm textile insert.
CTCON308P001: Complete set with aluminum base and 8mm textile insert for maximum hold on halyards.
Comparative Advantages: This complete system is three times lighter than a traditional clutch and guarantees zero slippage once under tension.

Applications and Installation

Antal and Constrictor solutions adapt to numerous rigging configurations. They are recommended for sheet leads, control lines, outhauls, or reefing lines. Mounting can be performed on the deck, coaming, coachroof, or bulkhead depending on the deck plan requirements.
