DOG BONES

A dog bone is a short structural rod designed to be attached to the end of a rope to establish and/or lock a connection with another rope, eyelet, piece of deck hardware or rigging.

The central constriction and symmetrical ends make the piece resemble a bone, hence its name.

Originally made from a wooden pin for tall ships during the Age of Enlightenment and gradually falling into obscurity, the dog bone has recently been reintroduced into the modern tackle box thanks to today's better materials and a renewed enthusiasm for its versatility.

The dog bone is a very practical way to quickly and efficiently create reliable fastenings for different parts or connect textile loops for a wide range of applications. Unlike a knot, the dog bone does not lock under tension and can be quickly and easily attached or detached.

Tylaska dog bones are available in 8 different sizes covering a very wide range of rope diameters from Ø3 mm to Ø16 mm and working loads, either in anodised 7075 aeronautical aluminium or 17-4 PH stainless steel, depending on strength requirements.

Characterised by its unique patented design, with a central constriction and double cone shape pierced at each end, the Tylaska dog bone, thanks to its grooved texture, grips the rope and prevents slippage.
