Technical operation of the Allen GNAV system
The GNAV is a type of reverse push bar that acts on the boom from above.
It usually consists of a rigid arm or cylinder, fixed between the mast and the boom, but oriented so as to push the boom downwards, unlike a conventional downhaul which pulls downwards under the boom.
This configuration allows controlled tension to be applied to the mainsail, modifying the shape and power of the sail according to wind conditions.
GNAV adjustment is often combined with other systems (such as the downhaul or boom vang) to optimise rig performance.
The Allen GNAV kit includes all the parts needed for a solid and easy installation, with materials resistant to marine corrosion (stainless steel, anodised aluminium, etc.).
Advantages of the Allen GNAV
Space saving under the boom: The cockpit is less cluttered, making it easier for the crew to move around and improving comfort.
Precise and responsive adjustment: GNAV allows effective control of the mainsail's power, which is essential for regattas and competitive sailing.
Robust and durable installation: The Allen system is renowned for its quality and durability, even in demanding marine conditions.
