Designed for precise jib sheet routing on keelboats, the Allen Keelboat Jib Sheet Fairlead with Oval and Round Hole delivers reliable, low-friction line guidance wherever a shallow-angle deflection is needed. Engineered for sailing vessels up to 40ft/12m, this dual-hole fairlead offers outstanding versatility for jib sheet and control line management on both cruising yachts and performance keelboats.
The combination of an oval and round hole makes this fairlead uniquely adaptable — the oval aperture accommodates a wide range of sheet sizes and angles, while the round hole provides a clean, fixed lead point for smaller control lines. Available in a broad range of shapes and sizes to suit virtually any deck layout or rigging configuration.Machined from high marine grade 7075 aluminium for exceptional strength and long-term corrosion resistance in demanding saltwater environments. Each unit features a hard black anodised finish for lasting surface protection, complete with a pad-printed Allen logo for instant on-deck identification.
How to Install Your Allen Keelboat Jib Sheet Fairlead
Installing your Allen Keelboat Jib Sheet Fairlead is a simple, straightforward process. Follow these steps for a secure, watertight fit:
- Mark your fixing positions – Check the fixing hole centre dimensions from the product drawing and mark them accurately on the deck at your chosen mounting location.
-Drill the fixing holes – Select the correct drill bit size (refer to the product drawing for exact specifications) and drill 2 or 3 holes as required. Lightly bevel each hole to help the sealant form a clean, reliable sealing ring.
- Apply marine-grade sealant – Apply a generous bead of marine-grade sealant around the underside of the fairlead base and inside each fixing hole to ensure a fully weatherproof, watertight seal.
- Insert the bolts – Pass the bolts (not included) up through the holes from beneath the deck. Fit washers to help distribute the load evenly across the deck surface.
Tighten securely – Using the appropriate tool, tighten all bolts evenly to a firm, consistent torque.
Use masking tape to hold bolts in position under the deck while tightening from above.
Choose 316 stainless steel hex head bolts for maximum marine corrosion resistance.
Fit large washers beneath the deck to spread the load and minimise stress on the laminate.
