A2020SHK — 20mm Single Dynamic Block with Swivel Hook

The A2020SHK is our compact, low-friction 20mm Dynamic block fitted with a swivel hook for fast, tool-free attachment and release. Lightweight and strong, it is the ideal choice for dinghies, windsurfing, kitesurfing and any application running smaller-diameter lines that demands constant sheave movement and quick rigging adjustments.

Swivel Hook

The swivel hook allows fast attachment and removal without tools, and rotates freely through 360° to self-align with the direction of load. This eliminates twisting and misalignment stresses on both the block and the attachment point, keeping friction low and movement smooth under dynamic loads.

Important notice

The swivel hook on the A2020SHK is not lockable. It is designed for applications where quick release is an advantage, not for use in safety-critical or permanent attachment points.

Dynamic Bearing System

The A2020SHK features our patented twin-row stainless-steel ball bearing system running on a stainless-steel rail — delivering superior load-carrying capacity and significantly lower friction than conventional plastic-rail designs, even under constant sheave movement.

Rope-Friendly Becket

The large central rivet reduces overall block weight while providing a smooth, rope-friendly attachment point — ideal as a tie-off in cascade systems and purchase arrangements.

The patented twin-row stainless-steel ball bearing system minimises rolling resistance throughout the block's service life, maintaining consistently low friction even under repeated high-cycle loading. This is in contrast to plain-bearing or needle-bearing blocks, which are better suited to occasional or static load applications.

Can the swivel hook be locked, and in which situations should it not be used?

No — the swivel hook on the A2020SHK is not lockable. It is designed for applications where quick attachment and release are an advantage, such as temporary rigging points, adjustable purchase systems, or configurations that are frequently rigged and de-rigged. It should not be used as a primary attachment in safety-critical applications, overhead load-bearing situations, or anywhere an accidental release could cause injury or equipment loss.

What line diameters are compatible with the A2020SHK?

The A2020SHK is optimised for smaller-diameter lines, making it ideal for the light, fast-running cordage used in dinghies, windsurfing and kitesurfing. For best performance and longevity, we recommend using lines within the diameter range specified for the 20mm Dynamic sheave. Using oversized lines increases friction and bearing load, reducing both performance and the lifespan of the block.
