A2021HK - 20mm Single Dynamic Block with Fixed Hook — Fast Attachment, Smooth Performance

The A2020HK combines the proven performance of our go-to 20mm Dynamic block with a built-in articulating hook for quick, tool-free attachment. Lightweight and strong, it is ideal for dinghies, windsurfing, kitesurfing and any application running smaller-diameter lines that demands constant sheave movement.

Fixed Articulating Hook

The integrated hook allows the block to be attached and detached in seconds — no tools, no fumbling with pins or shackles. Critically, the hook can articulate on its fitting, allowing the block to self-align with the line of pull as load angles shift. This makes it particularly well suited to outhaul and cunningham systems, where the direction of force changes throughout the sail's range of adjustment.

Dynamic Bearing System

Like all Dynamic blocks, the A2020HK features our patented twin-row stainless-steel ball bearing system running on a stainless-steel rail — delivering superior load-carrying capacity and exceptional longevity compared to conventional plastic-rail designs.

Rope-Friendly Becket

Why is an articulating hook better than a fixed hook for outhaul and cunningham systems?
In outhaul and cunningham systems, the angle of the line changes significantly as the sail is eased or tensioned. A fixed hook forces the block to remain in one plane, which means any misalignment between the hook and the fitting creates side-loading — accelerating wear on both the hook and the attachment point, and increasing friction in the system. An articulating hook pivots to follow the line of pull, eliminating side-loading and keeping the block running freely regardless of the sail position. The result is lighter, more consistent control and a longer service life for both the block and the fitting.

How secure is the fixed hook under load — can it accidentally disengage?
The hook is designed to remain securely engaged under load. The geometry of the hook ensures that tension in the system keeps it seated on the fitting — the harder the load, the more securely it sits. Accidental disengagement typically only occurs when load is completely released and the block is physically lifted clear of the fitting, which is the intended behaviour for quick rigging changes. For applications where inadvertent release is a concern, we recommend pairing the block with a retaining clip or using a fork-head variant such as the A2020F instead.

Is the A2020HK suitable for use beyond outhaul and cunningham — for example, in a vang or mainsheet system?
Yes — while the articulating hook makes the A2020HK particularly well suited to outhaul and cunningham applications, the underlying block is the same high-performance A2020 Dynamic used throughout our range. It is equally at home in a vang purchase, a kicker system, or any other application running smaller-diameter lines that benefits from quick-attach convenience. The Dynamic bearing system ensures consistently low friction under constant sheave movement, whatever the application.
